Home to stunning wildlife and thriving ecosystem, Tsum Valley is an outlandish place for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts. From the breathtaking Himalayan views of the world’s eight highest mountain- Mt. Manaslu (8,163m) to the refreshing natural trekking trails within the flourishing Tsum Valley of north-western Nepal, you can expect to experience a whole lot of excitement and exhilaration during our Manaslu with Tsum Valley Trek. Located at the northern Gorkha of Nepal; the exhilarating trekking trail advance across the rugged but picturesque landscapes to the culturally fascinating Tsum Valley i.e. sacred Himalayan pilgrimage valley. Furthermore, the trail is adorned with artistic chortens and lined with mani walls made of thousands of stone slabs carved with drawings of deities and inscribed with prayers. Tsum valley renders heavenly backdrop of the gracious Ganesh Himal and Sringi Himal, next to Himal Boudha ranges. Precisely, Tsum is a Tibetan word that translates into vivid and the name is utterly befitting for this serene Himalayan valley due to its elegant classic art, culture, and religion; majorly influenced by Buddhism. Moreover, most of the natives belong to Tibetan origin and speak distinct dialect.
We kick start the escapade with a liberating but sensational sightseeing tour around the historic UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Patan Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath and Kathmandu Durbar Square; situated within the vicinity of the Kathmandu valley. After exploration of these delightful classic landmark sites, we shall make our way towards the enchanted Manaslu region. On the very next day, we take an 8-hour long bus drive to a place called Arughat and begin our initial trekking experience with an exciting hike to Seti Khola. From here onward, the trail goes through densely forested regions brimming with exotic rare animals and birds. So, be prepared to witness Mother Nature at its best while heading through Machha Khola, Philim, Chumling, Chhokangparo and Nile villages one after another. Additionally, trekkers can also explore an ancient cave called ‘Milarepa Piren Phu’ where the Buddhist saint Milarepa is believed to mediate and reside; then, we and visit Dhephyudonma Gompa on the ninth and tenth day of their trek. However, our trek can become a bit challenging in some instances while crossing the Larkya La Pass which is elevated up to 5,215 meters above sea level. So, you might have to prepare yourself accordingly for such exhaustive phase during the trek.
Alongside the prepossessing outlooks of the majestic Mt. Manaslu, the valley also flaunts exquisite wildlife including the Himalayan Thar and Blue Sheep that flock together in herds of 40 to 250. Also, beware of the fact that hunting and fishing is not permitted in the Tsum Valley. The valley showcases some of its appealing gems in the form of, remarkable and historic monasteries such as Rachen Gumba and Mu Gumba, which is positioned on a nice-looking plateau based in the lap of the beautiful valley; accompanied by Gumba Lungdang i.e. situated at the foot of a conical hill against the main slope of Ganesh Himal.
Last of all, if you want to experience this trek then we highly recommend you to book this trip during autumn and spring seasons as the weather will mostly remain stable and unchanging throughout these monthly periods.
