Following an abbreviated morning briefing, we jump into a private tour vehicle and begin our sightseeing tour after having our dinner. Initially, we drive to Swayambhunath- a striking sacred shrine located near to Thamel area, for an iconic view of the Kathmandu city. Next, we shall make our way to Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa before ending our day with a short reminiscing tour around Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Today we start our adventure into the illustrious Everest region of eastern Nepal with a much-publicized Himalayan flight to Lukla town. As Lukla is formally located at an alarming high elevation of 2,800 meters above sea level, it will take us about 30 minutes to reach from the capital city. However, the flight will be remarkably memorable and exciting as you will be able to catch some first salient glimpses of the phenomenal Himalayan mountains. Upon landing at Lukla airport, we will begin trekking and take casual steps towards our next destination called Phakding village.

Accommodation: Teahouse/Lodge Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Unlike yesterday, today is going to be a bit more onerous and arduous as we have to trek all the way up to a well-known tourist rest stop called Namche Bazaar. So, as soon as we finish having our breakfast, we pack up our bags and get ourselves ready for a hair-raising Himalayan adventure inside the biologically active Sagarmatha National Park. Established on July 19th, 1976, Sagarmatha National Park is a very sensational area dominated by towering mountains, frigid glaciers, copious wildlife and zestful atmosphere. Hence, walking thru it will be melodramatic and adventurous at the same time. We cross numerous overhanging airy suspension bridges above the effulgent Dudh Koshi river. Later we will arrive at Namche Bazaar after walking for more than 4 hours on a sedulous terrain.

Acclimatization plays a pivotal role in determining the successful completion of our Everest Base Camp trek. In its essence, trekkers are obliged to spend at least one whole day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization purposes as their bodies won’t be able to cope with the sudden change in the atmospheric pressure due to gain in high altitude while heading to EBC. For this reason, it is imperative that trekkers do not head much higher than Namche Bazaar without spending a day for acclimatization.

By now you must have understood that there are no well-formed trekking routes that follow a symmetrical way to another location. Thus, it is crucial that you follow your guide toe to toe during your trekking period. Continuing on with our 16day trek, we now have to leave Namche Bazaar as we have given our bodies ample amount of time to adjust itself to the elevated atmosphere above 3,000 meters. Nevertheless, it will be worthwhile to keep yourself aware about our physical health condition while trekking from Namche to Tengboche village. All in all, it can take you up to 4 hours to arrive at Tengboche village if you were to walk unhurriedly.

Accommodation: Teahouse/Lodge Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Glancing upon the marvelous views of Mt. Ama Dablam (6,170m)- the most beautiful mountain in the world, trekkers will start their day inside their lodge in Tengboche village. Widely known for its eye-catching monastery and stimulating rituals, trekkers will get to enjoy their breakfast and explore the vicinity of Tengboche village before ultimately heading higher to Dingboche village. It will take us about 5 hours to reach Dingboche village. All in all, the journey will be pleasing as we get to hike through varied natural landscapes like any other day of our trek.

Just like our fifth day, this day is also scheduled as a day set out for acclimatization. Therefore, it’s quite necessary for us to keep ourselves active without hiking to places that are too high than Dingboche village. After all, who would want to get sick at such high elevation where there are no medical and health care services. Furthermore, we can’t risk getting Altitude Sickness as it can be very life-threatening. However, we can go out to explore some nearby sites such as Nagarjun Hill which is vividly located atop of Dingboche village. Once you hike up to the top of Nagarjun Hill, you will get to see the entire valley along with several surrounding mountains whose peaks are sharply rising above the clouds. Later, we need to hike down back to Dingboche.

Moving on with our trek, we now have to leave Dingboche village and head higher to Lobuche village. It will be a lot tougher for you than other days as with every step you take, you get higher and higher. However, that will make it more exhilarating and memorable for you. The struggle and the compelling desire to reach to your next destination will be enough to get you to Lobuche village. Once at Lobuche, you can check into a local lodge and spend the rest of the day by relaxing and enjoying the surrounding scenery.

Yesterday we enjoyed exploring the incredible base camp of Mt. Everest and but sadly we can’t see Mt. Everest with our eyes from the base camp. Hence, we will go for a morning hike up to the top of Kalapatthar. Once we reach the top of Kalapatthar, trekkers can observe the breathtaking views of world’s highest mountain- Mt. Everest and other surrounding Himalayan mountains like Mt. Nuptse and Mt. Lhotse. After watching the views of Mt. Everest and other mountains, we shall head back down to Gorakshep and have our breakfast. Next, we will leave Gorakshep and head down to Dingboche village.

Today is the last day of your stay in Nepal so a representative of Holy Mountain Treks will escort you to the International Airport 3 hours before your departure time for your flight back home.
Me and my son did EBC trek with Holy Mountain Treks on November 2018. We had the most unforgettable and exciting trip from beginning to end all made possible by the professional and meticulous service provided by Holy mountain team. Our guide Ram who met us at the airport was attentive to our every needs and he ensured we had a very safe, exhilarating and memorable time in the mountains. He continually shared his knowledge and many years of experience of the region and Sherpa culture, which we loved. Our porter Kanchha was also very friendly. The trek was challenging in parts but this was surpassed by the breathtaking surroundings and encouragement from Ram. This was our first trip to Nepal and we will definitely be back and we will definitely be trekking with Holy Mountain treks again. We can only give them the highest recommendation!! Many many thanks, Ethan Miller Japan
